Thoughts and Prayers
Ξ February 23rd, 2008 | → | ∇ Thoughts and Prayers |
Many of us have taken time to write our thoughts and prayers on the memorials outside of Holmes Student Center, on makeshift boards and melting snow piles. We ask each visitor to take a moment to share your heart here on niutogetherforward.com as a way to keep those thoughts and prayers around when the memorial boards break and the snow melts.

Our Prayers go out to all the students at NIU.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families and students that were effected by this tragedy. With an event so tragic as this, however, it makes it more difficult to imagine praying to a God knowing that He is personal, loving, and longs to have a relationship with us. While I don’t quite know how, I know that God can take this calamity and use it for good.
Thanks for this site. The memorial service tonight was very touching. Forward Together Forward NIU!
It was hard to be home most of the week. I pray for those who are still recovering.

During these weeks of mourning and reflection, I am reminded of a quote from author Donald Miller “as if something was broken in the world and we were supposed to hold our palms against the wound”. That is exactly what we are trying to do, with a wound this big, it will take many hands to provide the healing necessary. Christ can provide the healing, if only we believe.
Lauren, we are praying for you too! We have not forgotten you. We know that you have been through so much in the last week or so. You are in our prayers and God cares deeply for you.
As a student of NIU who has been inside Cole Hall basically once a week since being a freshmen (now a in my third year) its going to be very weird seeing that building and possibly never entering it again.
Also, as of this writing today, the fateful class that tragic day met in the reassigned room. I will pray for strength for all of them and for how hard it will be for them the rest of the year and even possibly life.
The tragic events of the day have caused me to reflect at great length on my own life and the state of the world.
It is my hope and prayer that anyone shaken or driven in such a fashion think critically and take the time to talk with others and share their thoughts and feelings.
I also pray for healing for the families of those affected by the tragedy and comfort for the anxious students who now fear for their safety.
Thank you for this site. It has helped me get to know those that we lost. I am going to the speaker tonight and hoping the power in numbers will help me heal.
We’ve started a blog dedicated to grieving and understanding of the recent tragic event. I have linked to this site so people can get as much assistance as necessary.

I am still and probably will always be in disbelief that this tragedy ever happened on our campus. Thoughts of those students sitting in cole hall that afternoon will always be in my mind. I am so sorry that their lives were taken so soon and in a violent manner.
However, seeing all the love and suppport that our campus and surrounding communities/schools/towns/organizations have given, reasures me that we will get through this.
I thought that tonights presentaion was very supportive and helpful. It was comforting hearing students from VT who went through what we just went through, talk about how they are still delaing with it and how we can deal with it.
This first week back has been weird…things still don’t feel right. But we will prevail and overcome this together as a school! FORWARD TOGETHER FORWARD HUSKIES!
